Memory #6

Earned from this game.

Trivial Neutral: Dr. Takano's interpretation of the story of Jesus.

What Takano remembers:
Using the story of Jesus' death and resurrection as a metaphor, Dr. Takano illustrates to a young Miyo his desire to establish a lasting legacy through his academic achievements. If his achievements are recognized for their importance, then even after his death, he will still live on in the human consciousness, like a God. (Mangareader depiction starting here.)

End memory

What Takano Learned
1. This fully clarifies the words of her Grandfather from this memory.
2. What he wants is not evil, or twisted, or wrong. All he wants is to contribute to the world and for his contributions to be acknowledged. It is unambiguously positive. [Any self-doubt that her Grandfather was anything but a kind person is now completely gone.]
3. Drawing on her regained Occult Studies knowledge, she realizes her Grandfather's interpretation of Jesus is not one held of traditional Christianity, but is instead a rather academic take on the story. That is, his retelling is not in line with the Nicene Creed, because he denies Jesus died and was literally resurrected. Grandfather is not a Christian.
4. If she thinks about this in connection to the fact that she knows he fails, then it's depressing...

Memory #5

Earned from this game.

Trivial Positive: Joining the Parasitology department at University.

What Takano remembers:
Takano officially enrolls in the parasitology department at her university. She's the only female member.

A depiction of it can be seen here and here. (Note: Mangareader links.)

End memory

What Takano Learned
1. She was a researcher of parasites. More than that, parasites are directly related to her Grandfather's studies somehow. (Grandfather is still alive, she hasn't yet changed her name.)
2. Parasites are freaky.
3. She remembers what science laboratories generally look like.
4. This is still only one step taken toward her goal of honoring her Grandfather.

Memory #3

Earned from this game.

Significant Positive: I am an awesome student.

What Takano remembers:
This memory is a condensed version of her life spent in high school. The focus is mainly on the fact that she was not only smart, she was some sort of amazing super overachiever who aced every exam while maintaining a (positive) social life. Her only motivation is to honor her Grandfather.

A depiction of it can be seen here and here. (Note: Mangareader links.)

End memory

What Takano Learned
1. Takano was working very hard even at a young age for the purpose of paying tribute to her Grandfather. (Pretty sure he hasn't died yet.)
2. She not only 'tried hard', she spent every waking moment dedicated to learning or furthering her contacts. [+110% Hard Worker points.]
3. All sorts of knowledge are relevant to her Grandfather's research. Nothing is irrelevant.
4. She's very close to becoming an adult.

Memory #2

Earned from this game.

Trivial Neutral: I'm changing the reading of my surname to avoid formal connection to Dr. Takano so people don't doubt my objectivity. I am still Takano Miyo.

What Takano remembers:
No special notes here. At some point as she began her researching career, she changed her name so she could study what her Grandfather studied without anyone doubting her objectivity. In other words, if people suspected she had a personal stake in the work, they might not take her seriously.

But it's still pronounced "Takano Miyo."

End memory

What Takano Learned
1. She at some point did start work on accomplishing what her Grandfather wanted her to do. Still not sure what, exactly.
2. Apparently whatever she was doing has strict rules.
3. Objectivity (and appearing to have it) is important. [Takano will (try to) be more objective in her approach to situations.]
4. Her name is Takano Miyo. Or rather, (鷹野三四). Takano is the surname/family name. Her Grandfather was also named 'Takano' but she doesn't know the characters for it.

Memory #1

Earned from this game.

Trivial Positive: Happy everyday life with Grandfather Takano.

What Takano remembers:
This is a general 'slice of life' memory depicting a 'typical' day living as a child with her Grandfather. He is still alive. He has not yet had his research crushed. Miyo does not experience any significant emotional upheavals.

A depiction of what this memory could be like can be found here. (Note: not sure if there are scripts active on that page.)

End memory

What Takano Learned
1. Her Grandfather was a very kind man.
2. He provided for her and raised her well.
3. She loved and respected him.
4. He also spent a lot of time working/studying.
soft_reset: (success)
Significant Neutral: Dr. Takano's will: 'I could not become a God. You must become a God.'

What Takano learned
1. She had a Grandfather who chose to commit suicide for sad reasons.
2. He was a failure in some sense of the word. (Maybe objectively, maybe only in his own mind.)
3. He wants her to succeed.
4. It's the fate of humans to die and disappear forever.
5a. A God is something beyond human.
5b. ...but he's also being poetic and is encouraging her to create a legacy.

She currently has absolutely no context for any of this, even whether her 'Grandfather' was someone worth admiring or not.

edit: As of Day 309, Sunset/Early Evening's Game memory, she's aware that her Grandfather was a very kind man, and certainly worth admiring from what she knows.
